Community Bulletin: Acknowledging Office Gregory Haarala

The Berkley Police Department proudly acknowledges and commends Officer Gregory Haarala for his exceptional service and life-saving actions during a recent incident. Officer Haarala, with years of invaluable experience as a police officer, demonstrated remarkable professionalism and quick thinking in a chaotic situation that ultimately saved a life.

Earlier this month, Officer Haarala, alongside Detective Meadows and Berkley Fire & Rescue, responded to a single vehicle accident on Myricks Street. Upon arrival, Officer Haarala encountered a vehicle with severe front-end damage and an unconscious individual trapped inside. Despite the challenging circumstances trying to gain access to the car, Officer Haarala’s swift assessment and decisive actions were instrumental in accessing the situation effectively.

Utilizing his expertise and training, Officer Haarla identified that the individual was suffering from a narcotics overdose and promptly administered Narcan, a critical intervention that playe a pivotal role in saving the individual’s life. The operator was successfully extricated from the vehicle and promptly transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Officer Haarala’s unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of the community, coupled with his resourcefulness and commitment to public service, exemplify the core values of the Berkley Police Department. His efforts reflect the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism and compassion towards those in need.
